We have taken our experience producing high-end metalworking lathes for the U.S. military and huge commercial enterprises and applied it to this lathe - sure to please the most discerning user of wood lathes, a professional or serious turner, with the quality and features you expect from South Bend.
The variable speed comes in two ranges, between 50 and 900 RPM low and 170 to 3200 RPM high. This allows for quick adjustments based on the speed requirements of each project, resulting in smooth finishes.
This specialized lathe includes an auxiliary bed for bowl turning, giving you more space to work than typical lathes that provide only a tool rest.
You can easily change direction during turning with the helpful forward and reverse spindle controls.
The precision-ground cast-iron bed and bed extension support your workpiece throughout the turning process.
SB1126 offers 10-degree spindle indexing for precise workpiece positioning and there is a 6" faceplate located on both ends of the spindle.
Additional valuable features include built-in chisel holders for added convenience and a dual emergency stop button that enhances safety.
