MTSF236110175-0130, Laguna Tools F2 Fusion Tablesaw

The new Laguna F2 and F3 Table Saws are unlike any saw on the market. Having the same quality demands earned through the original fusion table saw, the new fusion line will not only impress but exceed the expectations you have come to expect from Laguna. With a completely redesigned trunnion and arbor controls that focuses on buttery smooth controls and longevity of the saw, we are sure this is the saw that will give you the perfect rip cut for many many years.

Features:

  • Internal Design. The saw was built around a newly designed trunnion with years of research behind it. The new design focuses on butter smooth and true arbor adjustments without sacrificing strength or longevity of the saw. You will come to find a 2:1 ratio arbor tilt control that has zero backlash, an industrial strength 3 post height adjustment mechanism, and new features like the spindle lock for quick blade changes. In addition, the saw has kept the classic Laguna style cabinet mounted trunnion, but now with micro adjustable tilt controls.
  • Square design zero clearance throat plate. The new throat plate is made from an innovative resin based phenolic material that dampens vibration and chatter where it matters the most. It also features 100% adjustability and a quick release locking mechanism.
  • Thick 1/16″ metal cabinet. Aside from this robust build of the cabinet, you will come to find intelligent tool storage for all included accessories and the classic T-style fence.
  • Newly Designed accessories including the blade guard, riving knife, and an integrated quick-change cam action setting mechanism. Included Accessories: Riving knife, blade guard, mitre gauge, 10” Blade, blade changing tool, and fence mounted push stick.
  • The saw meets the latest CSA/UL requirements and was pridefully built from an ISO 9001 certified factory.

    Laguna F2 Fusion

I ordered a dado insert with the saw. The insert arrived in 2 days, but I hadn't received a shipping date yet. Normally not a big deal. It just made me a little nervous because it was getting close to my wife's birthday. I didn't want to be watching for a shipment if I didn't need to. It all worked out. The saw arrived in good time. It was packaged well and arrived in perfect condition. Assembly was simple, even without the pictures. I haven't completed a full alignment yet. I'll do that when sweat isn't dripping in my eyes. I did a quick check with my little Starrett square and everything is at least very close. Hooked it up to a 1 hp dust collector and sawed a few pieces of scrap. Dust collection works great. Saw runs quietly with no vibration. Overall, I'm extremely happy. This is an excellent saw for a hobbyist like me. US Tool Depot was a pleasure to do business with and I highly recommend them.

    F2 Review

Overall, I love the saw. The one weakness I found is the fence and rails. The fence does not lock securely to the rail opposite of the blade. There’s enough flex to throw-off cabinet grade accuracy, which makes this a really good contractor saw. I also had an issue trying to get the fence to slide freely for adjustments since there’s nothing to guide it on both ends. It wants bind unless guided with two hands. The saw itself is a 10, the fence and rails, a 5 at best.

A GREAT SAW FOR A GREAT PRICE

Posted by THOMAS NICOSIA on Jan 30th 2020

In the market for a hybrid table saw, I researched Laguna, Jet, Grizzly, Shop Fox, Saw Stop and Powermatic.. I chose Laguna after comparing price, features, and reviews. After receiving, setting up, and putting it into operation, I am totally pleased with my choice. The saw was shipped in a strong wooden crate, and was almost fully assembled. Following clear instructions with numerous pictures, I assembled the front and rear rails, put the fence on, and it was ready to go. Many reviews stated that the settings were dead on from the box. I was not so lucky. The blade was out of parallel to the miter slots by about 1/64th”, and the fence tilted toward the rear of the blade (not good) by the same amount. This alone justified my choice of the Fusion 2, which has a cabinet mounted trunnions, vs the Fusion 1 where it is mounted to the table (like most of the competition in this price range). Simply loosening 3 bolts allowed the table to be adjusted with taps from a rubber mallet. The fence is even simpler; just turn the adjustment screws until parallel. I was actually happy that it needed adjustment, and will routinely fine tune in the future. The saw is really quiet, and passes the nickel test, balancing one on its’ side and turning the saw on without it falling over. Another feature that only showed up on the Shop Fox at this price range, is the secondary vacuum hose that connects to the blade protector. This totally captures the saw dust firing off the top of the blade. Finally, I was concerned about how hard it would be to move the saw around my relatively small shop. The Fusion 2 comes with 2 built in, lockable wheels. By using the front and rear rails, I easily lifted it wheelbarrow style, positioned it, and locked it in place. Couldn’t have been easier, and I saved the $100-150 price of a mobile base. After about 15 minutes of use, I moved the saw to inspect the shop floor. VOILA, NO SAWDUST, even with MDF. In summary, the Fusion 2 was very competitively priced, offered features like dual dust collection, cabinet mounted trunnions, polished steel top, AND wings, extremely easy adjustments for blade and fence, built in wheels for easy adjustments on the floor, and smooth, quiet operation. I am totally pleased with my well researched decision.
